Va’Ren-Tal, the Threshold Keeper
He came through when I wasn’t trying.
When I put down the pressure to “create” and simply allowed my hands to move.
What emerged wasn’t what I set out to paint.
It was who had been waiting to be remembered.
This is Va’Ren-Tal —an ancient being of hybrid Lyran and Reptilian ancestry.
Not the fearsome stories. Not the villainized myths.
But a guardian. A watcher. A quiet witness to long-forgotten truths.
That eye slit pupil, it isn’t cold.
It’s ancient. It’s the kind of eye that’s seen entire civilizations rise and fall,
and still holds compassion in its gaze.
You’ll feel it if you linger too long.
He’s not just watching you; he’s recognizing you.
His presence is solemn, yes, but there’s play in him, too.
He posed. He waited. He said,
“You want to paint me? Then see me. Truly see me.”
This isn’t art for decoration.
This is a summoning.
A moment captured when the veil thinned and memory spilled through.
So if you feel something in your chest while looking…
A twinge, a breath caught, a ripple across your skin—
Don’t ignore it.
You’ve met before.
